Call for Proposals

Dear colleagues, dear members of staff,

We are delighted to inform you that the Gender Equality and Diversity Board of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities has launched the third Contest of Ideas for gender equality at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities for the year 2019.

After the successful introduction of the first Contest of Ideas in 2014, the Gender Equality and Diversity Board would again like to promote your project ideas related to gender equality that are specifically tailored to the requirements and challenges at your institutes. As with the previous Contests, the Contest of Ideas 3.0 is designed to support gender equality work at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and to integrate conceptional impulses from the Faculty’s institutes.

It is the principal goal of the Contest of Ideas to structurally improve the framework of gender equality policy and to thereby increase equal opportunities for women and men.

Who may participate?

All professors as well as scientific and technical-administrative staff at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities may apply.
Your ideas concerning new gender equality policy may be submitted from within the respective institutes, subject fields, the entire Mittelbau as well as the different networks and/or centres of the Faculty.

Which measures can be funded? What is the funding amount?

If there are support offers available from the central Gender Equality Commissioner of Kiel University and you have already applied for those, please let us know in your application. Measures related to “Familiengerechte Hochschule” will not be funded. The Gender Equality and Diversity Board of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities also does not fund measures that are supported by third-party funding already.

The amount of project funding may vary but cannot exceed a total of 1.500 euros per project.

Examples for projects include, for instance, workshops or coaching sessions for members of an institute (all status groups) on gender equality policy at the university, on gender inequality in specific subject fields, on gender competency or on gender-neutral language. Project ideas focused on the integration of gender competency and gender studies in research and teaching can also be funded.

Projects that have received funding in the previous Contest of Ideas.

Who decides on funding? When will a decision be made?

Please submit your applications online by 15.10.2019 at the latest (date the application is received online). The online application form can be found here.

You will be sent a copy of your application by email once we have received the online application.

Please print this copy of the application and send it to the head of your institute for their information.

The members of the Gender Equality and Diversity Board will evaluate all applications that have been received and will provide a preselection to be forwarded to the Convention. Based on this preselection, the Convention will make a decision.

All applicants will be notified of the Convention’s decision most likely by the end of November 2019.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Gender Equality Officers at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (gleichstellung@philfak.uni-kiel.de).
We are looking forward to your applications!

Kind regards,

Dr Ines Weber
Chairwoman of the Gender Equality and Diversity Board of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
