Graduation ceremony at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Dear fellow students,

The following notes provide you with all the information required for your participation in the graduation ceremony. It should therefore not be necessary to contact the Academic Examination Office with questions.

Next graduation ceremony (awarding of degree certificates):

10 February 2016, 6 pm c.t, Auditorium maximum, Frederik-Paulsen lecture hall

Participants:

All doctoral and Magister graduates of an examination period, as well as Master's degree graduates, the examiners involved, family members, friends and acquaintances.

If you are unable to attend:

Participation in the graduation ceremony is compulsory for all doctoral and Magister graduates. If you are unable to attend on the day, prior notice must be given in writing to the Vice Dean for Studies and Examinations, providing valid reasons for your absence.

Dress code:

Clothing appropriate for the dignity of the event and the significance of the occasion.

Procedure for the ceremony (total duration approx. 1 hour):

  • The graduates take their places in the first three rows of seats, with the remainder of the guests sitting in the rows behind them
  • opening of the ceremony by the Vice Dean for Studies and Examinations at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
  • speech by one of the graduates
  • short speech by the Vice Dean
  • all graduates are invited to the podium
  • the Vice Dean reads the academic oath, which is repeated together by all the graduates
  • the doctoral graduates, the Magister graduates and then the Master's degree graduates receive their degree certificates from the Vice Dean in alphabetical order, upon announcement of their name and main subject. The Magister/Master's graduates also receive their certificates of completion
  • closing of the ceremony, with the opportunity for celebration and conversation with graduates, examiners, family and friends in the foyer of the Auditorium maximum.
